Why do we need math?
Well, math is a life skill and more than just numbers and operations. It makes you a critical thinker, a problem solver, and a life long learner. Some of the basic life skills you need are how to balance your savings and checking accounts, how to figure out your taxes, tips, mark-ups, and discounts. You do want to get the best value for your money, don't you? How about figuring out your budget? So that you always know where your money is going. How about the purchase of your first car or home? That's a life skill. How about looking at a graph and being able to analyze and interpret it? How does data influence our daily lives or our environment? Don't let mathematics intimidate you. It doesn't always come easy, but the more you practice, the better you get at it. Don't underestimate yourself; there is a mathematician inside you, all you have to do is try and never give up. There are lots of careers that offer incredible opportunities to people who collaborate and communicate to problem solve, are creative and critical thinkers, and help us make sense of data (not to mention lots of "Cha-ching!").
